The Year of Ox arrives soon, and we wish you all a happy Chinese New Year and good health! Please find attached a Chinese New Year card. Your support is very much appreciated in continuing to make the operation of school possible during these unprecedented times. The teachers’ and students’ health and wellbeing is our priority, and in line with the government policy, remote teaching is being run until the end of the school year. Please check regularly for the latest information on the school website.
2021 is the school’s 50th anniversary, and we warmly invite you to participate in our great event.
Any acts and performances are welcome. These can be pictures of a word/phrase, voice messages, short video clips (no longer than 4 mins) such as parents sharing your child/children learning Chinese or students’ views about learning Chinese. Please send it to the school email address. The submission deadline is on 30th June. Parents or guardians should complete and return the consent form to school for the participating students. We are planning to create a video after collecting all the materials. It will be launched on a free platform that will be made available to the school community.

Dear parents/ guardians/ students,
The Chinese New Year’s celebration will be postponed to the 22nd February 9:45am due to the high risk period of outbreak of the Coronavirus. Considering parents’ worries and young children’s well-being, the school will be closed on Saturday the 1st of February for mid-term break. Please be aware of personal health and hygiene. Sorry for the late notice and any inconvenience caused.
On the 9th of February 2019, Edinburgh Chinese school held its annual Chinese New Year celebration to welcome the year of the pig. The audience enjoyed an exciting dragon dance, many performances from the school’s students and a range of stalls showcasing Chinese culture. Theme: Celebrating Chinese New Year of the Rooster
Eligibility: Membership School of UK Federation of Chinese School
Age groups: Junior group: (Age 8 and under);
Intermediate group: (Ages 9 to 13);
Senior group: (Ages 14 to 18)
Design specifications: greeting card (A5 paper only, contestants are permitted to use water colours, pastels drawing); name and age of student, name of school, name of headteacher and headteacher’s contact number must be written on the back of each card entry (in both Chinese and English).
Selection rules: schools can select up to three entries from each age group (maximum of nine entries per school), the selection panel will then select the top three entries from each group. Merit awards will also be rewarded to three entries from each group. .
